ITACS Hazardous Area Equipment Section specializes in testing and evaluation of equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres to many national and international standards and have JAS-ANZ, NATA and IECEx accreditation.

General Requirements

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards:

  • AS 2380.1 - General requirements
  • AS/NZS 60079.0 - General requirements
  • IEC 60079-0 - General requirements

Flameproof Ex d

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards:

  • AS 2380.2 - Flame Proof Enclosures – Ex d (Standard withdrawn on 28th February 2005)
  • AS/NZS 60079.1 -Flame Proof – Ex d
  • IEC 60079-1 -Flame Proof – Ex d

The associated General Requirements will also need to be included in the evaluation.

Increased Safety

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards:

  • AS 2380.6 - Increased Safety – Ex e (Standard withdrawn on 28th February 2005)
  • AS/NZS 60079.7 - Increased Safety – Ex e
  • IEC 60079-7 - Increased Safety – Ex e

The associated General Requirements will also need to be included in the evaluation.

Intrinsic Safety

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards:

  • AS 2380.7 – Intrinsic Safety – Ex i (Standard withdrawn on 28th February 2005)
  • AS/NZS 60079.11– Intrinsic Safety – Ex i
  • AS/NZS 60079.25 – Intrinsically Safe Systems
  • AS/NZS 60079.27- Intrinsic Safety Field Bus
  • IEC 60079-11 – Intrinsic Safety – Ex i
  • IEC 60079-25 – Intrinsically Safe Systems
  • IEC 60079-27- Intrinsic Safety Field Bus

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards.

  • AS/NZS 60079.18 – Encapsulation Ex m

Non Sparking

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards.

  • AS 2380.9 - Non Sparking – Ex n
  • AS/NZS 60079.15 – Type of protection Ex n
  • IEC 60079-15 – Type of protection Ex n

The associated General Requirements will also need to be included in the evaluation.

Special Protection

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards.

  • AS 1826 – Special protection

Combustible Dusts

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards.

  • AS/NZS 61241.1.1 - DIP Enclosures (standard withdrawn 5th May 2005)
  • IEC 61241-1.1 - DIP Enclosures (standard withdrawn 5th May 2005)
  • AS/NZS and IEC 61241.-0 - General Requirements
  • AS/NZS and IEC 61241.-1 - Protection by Enclosures “tD”
  • AS/NZS and IEC 61241.-18 - Protection by Encapsulation “mD”

Electrical protective devices

ITACS can offer evaluation to the following Standards.

  • AS/NZS 2081.1 - Electrical protection devices
  • AS/NZS 2081.2 - Earth continuity monitoring devices
  • AS/NZS 2081.3 - Earth-leakage protection systems for use on earth fault current limited systems (IT systems)
  • AS/NZS 2081.4 – Lockout earth-fault protection devices
